I have the homur to inform Your Excellency

that 4 Chinese, kidnapped in September from this Colony by robbers who it is thought confined them in one of the islands near Macno - probably in Wong Kam until recently when they succeeded in

making their escape, have recently returned to the Colony, and I would ask whether arrangements can be made by which some of these

persons may be enabled to proceed to Macao with a Police Officer

from Canton in order to point out the place of their detention

which may be in Portuguese or Chinese territory or in territory

over which both Ching and Portugal claim jurisdiction.
